Message from Joanie

"I am a small town girl at heart. I lost both my parents when I was in my 20's within two years of each other. Their spirit lives on, tucked in my heart. I have tried to live by the moral compass that is their legacy to me. I have one son and my goal in life was to pass on those morals to him. He has grown up now, and I am very proud of the man he has become.  I define myself as his mother first, then as a child, a sister, and a friend. I try to share my greatest asset as often as possible, my smile.I have always been interested in writing and interacting with words both written by me and those read by me. I joined MySpace in 2007 with the intent to read and write blogs, both in poetry and prose. This has opened a whole new world to me. The web brought people from all over the world into my home through my computer. I made friends through several international writing groups. This is how I met Halkios.

"I feel it has been a privilege to have spoken to Halkios, on the other side of the world through instant messages and by phone when The Diary of an Angel was born. He was so excited to bring the piece of leather to the bookmaker. I feel lucky to have been chosen to write. I entered my words the 14th of October of 2010. This book is a symbol of the love, of writing and our wish to pass from hand to hand and share with everyone the hope and peace between its pages.

"Joan Withington wrote a blog about her experience with the The Diary, with Title An Angel's Quill recorded on myspace, on Oct 16, 2010"

Notes from Halkios

I met Joanie on the 3rd of December of 2007,  through a collab between the players of the Poet's Round Table, with title TRAIN TRACKS a weekly event organized by Michael Todd, known as DJ Myke. We also collaborated writing a story together on the Story of Pristina, from which I produced three halkoems under the following titles:

The Story of Pristina

 Moon Walk

Breaking the Vase

Meet Me Halfway

A Poem from Joanie

I

was born

dreaning with

eyes wide open

imagining life

to be my fairy tale.

I am the star of my dream

when my once upon a time is

crammed full of possibilities and

every new day brings my time on earth

one step closer to my own happily

ever after. Granting my own

wishes to pursue happiness,

I can stay focused on the

positive and treasure

those I love. I hope

that when I do

sleep, I will

rest in

peace.
