Nicosia, Cyprus, 21st of October, 2013

Unique Art Project “The Diary of an Angel Journey” Seeks Funding Assistance and sponsors via its own website Halkography. [Please share].

A manuscript; a global collaboration of 91 artists concludes a five year journey aims to an international publication which will follow with a unique presentation to the Cypriot art world

(Launch location of website, date: Hartshill, Warwickshire United Kingdom, the 21st of June 2013. Launch of Project Athens, Greece the 1st August 2008 )

The project is one of a kind, a very unique art form in itself. It is a highly original concept, both abstract and concrete. It is genuine and enlightening. It is an art book, a manuscript, a valuable collection of images, sound and music, of poetry and prose. It is a documentary whichgives both contributor and artists the ability to communicate and reevaluate their beliefs on human collaboration and vision. It has travelled around the world for five years, and so far 85 Artists have written inside, placing their memories and dreams in the art form they represent. This includes poets, musicians, painters, spoken word artists, writers, lyricists, composers, singers, artisans, photographers, video artists, copywriters, radio presenters, video editors, a bell chimer and a luthier (lute/bouzouki maker).  (For more please visit The Diary of an Angel.)

The Diary of an Angel combines the ancient and the modern; it also explores the concepts of individuality and universality. The art dedicated to this project is already much more that the leather bound pages of the book that it revolves around. It grew like a human child who has almost passed through adolescence and is waiting for his/her rite of passage. The Diary will remind people of the importance of keeping conventional art alive and available, and that technology is here to serve us and not us to serve technology. – Whereas a button can delete blogs and the works of thousand artists, dismissing the passion and work they had put into both physical and mentally, a Diary, or a painting can keep word and art and sheets of music for much longer. It is tangible and permanent. Keeping the balance between the two worlds is essential for humankind to come into peace with their needs both physical and spiritual. Art is an expression of honesty and freedom, the Diary being a manuscript expresses itself without fear of being copied, pasted dragged and dropped. First and foremost most its importance lies in its message. It has been written to spread the message love, friendship and peace.

The campaign will help me continue to the rest 3 districts of Cyprus on foot in the next months. The first 250 km are covered in 10 days, taking more than 4.000 photos and visiting three of its castles, the three mountains and one cape so far and about 50 villages. Supplies and resources are also required to accomplish the journey walking on the island for another 22 days (water, food etc.). I met on the way more artists in villages and cities that are now being showcased under Artistic Siblings The project has managed so much and so far from contributions made by family,  friends and my own and is looking for sponsors.

Contributions to the campaign will also be used to provide the equipment and technical support needed to produce a video recording of the journey through Cyprus and facilitate a live broadcast while I walk and mastering and publication of the Music CD and the Documentary of the DVD. It will conclude with an exhibition of its all its valuable pieces collections made on the way and also the Painting, The Treasure Trove, The book its self. (For more please visit The Diary of an Angel.)

It will open the way to collaborate with organizations such as The H4C (Home for Cooperation ) for the improvement of the talks and cooperation between the Turkish and Greek Cypriot communities as it included so far 22  Cypriot artists from both communities.

Note:  The team of the last 6 artists that await to place their memories and dreams in Cyprus and are from Cyprus, apart from myself are : Demetris Fyrios, Ay Tunch, Aysun Karaman, Semra Bayhanli, Monsieur Doumani (a music band of three) The last chapter will include sign poetry in video and braille notes of poetry imprinted on the last pages. All electronic format and media are kept aside either in CD or DVD or in the chest “The Treasure Trove” that was traveling with the Diary from a certain point of its journey as the artists wished to include more than writing on its pages; that includes gifts and personal messages and cards. So far the first 8 pages under Odoiporiko can give you an insight of the first 8 days of travel, while the fron page Prolegomena lists latest accomplishments with publications in four newspapers from both communities, Cyprus Weekly, Kibris, Yeniduzen and Cyprus Observer and Web radio show about what's going on in Nicosia and beyond - every Thursday 12:00-14:00 @ MYCYRADIO.EU - with Υiorgos, Yiannis and Orestis.
